The certified list of candidates has been released for Prince Edward County for the 2026 municipal election.
Three candidates are running for mayor, including current councillor Brad Nieman, who is joined by Terry Shortt and Ernie Margetson.
For Ward 1 Picton, two seats are available. Incumbents Kate MacNaughton and Brad Nieman are joined by Jane Lesslie and Emery Niles as candidates.
In Ward 2 Bloomfield/Hallowell, there are eight candidates vying for two seats. Those candidates are Erynn Ahern, Joanne Fralick, Geoff Heinricks, Mark Henry, Mark Hopper, Victor Lind, Kyle Douglas Mayne, and Kane Rutgers.
Ward 3 Wellington has a single seat. That seat is acclaimed with incumbent Corey Englesdorfer running uncontested.
Ward 4 Ameliasburgh has six candidates and three seats to be elected. Incumbent candidates Sam Grosso and Janice Maynard are running along with Andreas Bolik, Paul Dawson Boyd, Dianne O’Brien, and Doug Villeneuve.
Ward 5 Athol has one seat up for grabs with four candidates. Those candidates are Tyler Langmuir, Emily Jane Pickstock, Haley Woods, and Anna Zak.
Ward 6 Sophiasburg has one seat, with incumbent Bill Roberts up against Leslie Chapman, Megan Hutton, and Rachel Prinzen.
Ward 7 Hillier is acclaimed. Incumbent Chris Braney is running uncontested.
Ward 8 North Marysburgh has one seat and three candidates – Siobhan Harrison, Ken Morton, and Tracey Stevens.
Ward 9 South Marysburgh is acclaimed with incumbent John Hirsch running unopposed.
