Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed the pilot that had been reported missing after failing to return to the Oshawa Airport has been located deceased.
The Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre requested OPP assistance in searching for the private aircraft after the plane failed to return after taking off from the Oshawa Airport on Saturday morning.
Plane debris has been located on Wolf Lake in Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park which has since been confirmed as the pilot, 73-year-old David’s plane.
An extraction plan is now being coordinated by investigators.
OPP say that the circumstances surrounding the crash are now under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, the independent federal agency responsible for advancing transportation safety through the investigation of aviation occurrences.
The OPP will continue to assist as required.
