Members of the Northumberland OPP have laid charges in connection with a number of unrelated incidents.
Collision
On August 15, 2026 at approximately 1:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Main Street in the Municipality of Brighton.
Emergency Medical Services also attended for possible injuries.
After speaking with one of the motorists involved, officers commenced an impaired operation investigation which resulted in the driver being taken into custody and transported to a local detachment. Further investigation revealed additional offences. No serious injuries were reported.
Carolyn Robia (53) of Colborne, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Dangerous operation
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
- Driving while under suspension
- Fail to have insurance card
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Operate unsafe vehicle
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and a 45-day vehicle impoundment were also imposed.
Impaired Operation
On August 15, 2026 at approximately 12:15 a.m., a caller contacted police out of concern for the well-being of a family member operating a motor vehicle on County Road 25 in the Township of Cramahe.
Officers located a vehicle matching the description provided on County Road 30 in the Municipality of Brighton. After speaking with the motorist, officers commenced an impaired operation investigation which resulted in the individual being taken into custody.
As a result, a 34-year-old male from Manvers Township has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while prohibited
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and a 45-day vehicle impoundment were also imposed.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September 2026.

Disturbance
On August 13, 2026 shortly after 3:00 p.m., OPP officers were verifying an individual’s compliance with a court order on Bridge Street West in the Municipality of Trent Hills. During the interaction, a disturbance occurred, resulting in the person being taken into custody.
As a result, Michael Dingman (60) from Campbellford, has been charged with:
- Causing a disturbance
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused was held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
