On Saturday, shortly after 3:00 a.m., Prince Edward County OPP officers conducting patrols on Highway 62 observed an individual operating a motorcycle without a helmet. Following a traffic stop and investigation, the rider was arrested and transported to the Prince Edward County OPP detachment.
As a result, a 19-year-old Belleville male, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
On Sunday, shortly after midnight, Prince Edward County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in Athol when a vehicle entered the checkpoint. Officers spoke with the driver and, as a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment.
A 27-year-old man from Prince Edward County, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Approximately one hour later, Prince Edward County OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on County Road 11. Following the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment.
A 33-year-old Hamilton resident was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Later Sunday afternoon, Prince Edward County OPP officers responded to assist Sandbanks Provincial Park wardens with a disturbance involving park visitors. Following the incident, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment. The remaining individuals were escorted from Sandbanks Provincial Park.
A 42-year-old from Markham, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
As a result of the four impaired-driving investigations, all accused drivers were issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
Lennox and Addington County OPP charged two people with impaired driving.
On Sunday, just after 11:00 p.m., L&A County OPP members were performing a RIDE check on County Road 22 at County Road Seven in Loyalist Township. Police stopped a vehicle and after registering a “fail” on the Approved Screening Device (ASD) the driver was arrested.
A 51-year-old Kingston woman was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol
- Drive motor vehicle – liquor readily available
- Drive motor vehicle – cannabis readily available
- Fail to surrender licence
- Fail to properly wear seat beltĀ
Shortly after 5:00 a.m. Monday, L&A County OPP were called regarding a vehicle in the ditch on County Road Four near Maple Road in Loyalist Township. Officers attended the scene and following an investigation, the driver was arrested.
David Walter, a 54-year-old from Woburn, Massachusetts, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on September 29, 2026. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle was impounded.
