As part of ongoing enforcement efforts in relation to open-air drug use,
possession, and trafficking in the Town of Cobourg, the Cobourg Police Service Street Crime Enforcement Unit,
the Criminal Investigations Bureau, and Uniform Patrol Members conducted targeted enforcement in the
downtown area on August 13, 2026.
As a result of these efforts, nine individuals were arrested. Five adults were arrested for the possession of a
controlled substance after being observed engaging in the consumption of illicit drugs. Four additional adults
were arrested for breaching probation conditions.
Multiple charges were laid, including:
• Fail to comply with probation; and
• Engage in prohibited activity on premises
One individual was held for a bail hearing, and all others were released with various conditions and future court
dates.
