Two people have been charged after a drug-trafficking investigation.
In July 2026, the Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in Northumberland County.
On August 12, 2026, police arrested two individuals in Cobourg.
At the time of the arrests, officers seized approximately 15 grams of suspected cocaine and a quantity of Canadian currency.
A search warrant was subsequently executed at a residence in Cobourg under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. As a result, officers seized approximately:
- 250 grams of cocaine
- Drug trafficking paraphernalia
The combined quantity of suspected cocaine seized has an estimated street value of approximately $21,000. Officers also seized Canadian currency and cellular phones.
Thirty-eight-year-old Chelsea Warner of Cobourg has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
The accused was held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
Fifty-five-year-old Marc Kinach of Cobourg has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
