Members of the Prince Edward County OPP have charged one individual following an intimate partner violence investigation.
In July 2026, members of the Prince Edward County OPP received information regarding incidents of intimate partner violence involving an adult victim. As a result of the investigation, one individual has been charged with:
- Assault (two counts)
- Sexual assault
- Uttering threats
- Mischief under $5,000
The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton at a later date.
The OPP recognizes that intimate partner violence can take many forms, including physical violence, threats, coercive control, emotional abuse, sexual violence, financial control, and intimidation. Victims are not alone, and support is available.
