Durham Regional Police arrested a Toronto man following a stolen vehicle investigation in Pickering.
On July 22, 2026 at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of West Division responded to an assist police call regarding a stolen vehicle in Pickering. At the same time, police received information that a white Genesis SUV was driving in a dangerous manner and at high speeds. Officers located the vehicle parked in the area of Liverpool Road and Kingston Road. The driver was observed exiting the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. A search of the suspect located a quantity of cocaine.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had previously been towed by East Side Towing to what was believed to be the auto repair business AutoFix in Georgina, Ontario. The vehicle was reported stolen after the owner attended the location for AutoFix and discovered the business did not exist.
Nithoosan Selvakumar, age 35 from Toronto is charged with: dangerous operation, possess property obtained by crime over $5000, obstruct peace officer, possession of Schedule I Substance (cocaine), drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor, and drive motor vehicle while suspended.
He was held for a bail hearing.
