A development in Trenton is getting a 1 month extension on their frozen development charges.
During Wednesday’s council meeting, council heard a deputation from Samuel Herschorn, co owner for the property at 2 Fourth Avenue. He spoke to council about a previous request he had made to council for an extension to the freeze that had been denied.
In his deputation to council, Herschorn clarified some details about the project they planned for the property. The current site plan calls for a 12 unit apartment building, with each unit containing multiple bedrooms.
When the developer purchased the property, the rate freeze was already in effect. The developer was not aware at the time of the coming expiration of the frozen rates, which are set to expire on July 22nd. He said that if the rates unfreeze and rise to current rates, it would drastically impact their ability to finish the project.
After a brief discussion, council voted to approve a one month extension to the rate freeze.
