Hastings Prince Edward District School Board honoured seven local secondary school graduates with Governor General’s Academic Medals during graduation ceremonies last month.
The medal is awarded to the student graduating with the highest average from a high school, college or university.
This year’s honourees are:
- Cameron Billing, Prince Edward Collegiate Institute
- Naomi Buckingham, Central Hastings School
- James Ferguson, Trenton High School
- Leah Hudacin, Eastside Secondary School
- Grace Kinney, North Hastings High School
- Elly Lindsay, Centennial Secondary School
- Flora Sonneveld, Bayside Secondary School
Since 1873, the Governor General’s Academic Medal has recognized the outstanding scholastic achievements of students in Canada and has become one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution can receive.
