The Belleville Police Service Board is considering uploading their meetings live to a digital platform, to make them more accessible to viewers.
During Thursday’s police services board meeting, the board discussed a request they had received to have the meetings made available digitally.
The board had received an inquiry from a resident who wanted the meetings available in a digital format.
Board Chair Heather Smith said that there were many things that would have to be considered before taking the meetings live.
“I think first and foremost for our board is that we have to see the impact that’s going to have on the budget and access to staff,” said Smith. “I believe our room is set up quite nicely for those meetings.”
Both live broadcasts, and posting recordings, are being considered.
A report on the viability of running a digital stream is set to come back before the committee during their upcoming September meeting.
