Northumberland OPP are investigating an assault that occurred at Warkworth Institution.
On May 23, 2026, police received a report of an assault involving several inmates. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, two inmates, a 25-year-old male and a 31-year-old male were each charged on June 17, 2026 with:
· Assault causing bodily harm
· Forcible confinement
Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in August.
