A man has suffered serious injuries after a stabbing at an apartment complex in Belleville.
Belleville police were called to the apartment complex on Sidney Street at around 5:26 a.m. on Tuesday.
When police arrived, officers say they were able to locate the male victim, who was suffering from stab-related injuries.
He reported to police that an individual had entered his residence through the bedroom window and stabbed him with a knife while he was asleep.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
During the investigation, officers learned that earlier that night, police had received a call from another man reporting that his keys had been stolen by the same individual who was later found injured.
Officers were initially unable to locate the suspect.
However, shortly thereafter, police say they were able to locate the suspect walking on Sidney Street, where he was arrested at gunpoint without incident.
As a result, 31-year-old Mitchel Daley-Brown of Belleville was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated assault
- Break and enter – with intent to commit indictable offence.
He was held for a bail hearing.
