The Bay of Quinte Yacht Club (BQYC) is hosting a major sailing competition later this month.
The 2026 Shark 24 World Championships will be held from June 28 to July 2, bringing together top sailors from across Canada, the United States, and Germany and Austria.
The event’s opening ceremonies will be held Sunday, June 28 at 6 p.m. and feature welcoming remarks from club officials, local dignitaries, and representatives of the international Shark 24 sailing community.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for our club and community,” said the Commodore of the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club. “We are honoured to host the Shark sailing community and showcase the outstanding sailing conditions, hospitality, and volunteer spirit that make the Bay of Quinte such a special destination.”
The championship forms part of an exciting year for the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club as the club celebrates its 150th anniversary, marking a century and a half of sailing excellence, community involvement, and waterfront tradition.
