Belleville police responded to 256 calls for service between 5 a.m. on June 12, 2026 and 5 a.m. on June 15, 2026.
Public Intoxication:
On June 12, 2026 at 5:26 p.m., Belleville police responded to a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance at a business on Bridge Street West. The caller advised that the individual was yelling and creating concerns for customers.
Upon arrival, officers observed the male openly consuming a tall can of Molson Dry beer. He was identified as a 42-year-old Belleville resident. Officers offered to transport the man to his residence, where he could be cared for by family members, however, he refused. Instead, he demanded that police drive him to a nearby park so he could continue drinking with friends.
As a result of the investigation, the man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place, having liquor in an open container in an unauthorized place, and consuming liquor in an unauthorized place. He was later released from police custody once he had sobered up.
Arrested on Warrants and additional Drug Charges:
On June 12, 2026 at 7:45 p.m., a Belleville police officer on patrol observed a male and female walking on Moira Street East. The officer witnessed the male enter a residential property, remove a flower from a peony bush, and give it to the female.
The officer stopped to speak with the pair. While the officer was familiar with the female, the male was unknown to police. When asked to identify himself, the male initially provided a false name before subsequently giving his correct identity and admitting that he was wanted on outstanding warrants.
Police confirmed that the 39-year-old Belleville man was wanted on several warrants for offences including fail to attend court (three counts), theft under $5,000 (four counts), possession of property obtained by crime, impaired operation, driving while suspended, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and robbery.
Following his arrest, officers searched a bag in the man’s possession and located quantities of suspected cocaine and morphine. As a result of the investigation, the man was arrested on the outstanding warrants and additionally charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Public Intoxication:
On June 13, 2026 at 3:30 a.m., police received a report from a resident in Thurlow Township regarding a vehicle that drove into a ditch near their home and was still running. Officers attended the scene and found the vehicle unoccupied. During their investigation, they observed evidence of open alcohol inside the vehicle.
While searching the surrounding area, officers heard glass breaking at a nearby residence. They located a 40-year-old man from Cornwall who had sustained cuts to his legs from a broken glass alcohol container. Police determined that he was intoxicated by alcohol.
Following the investigation, the man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place and possessing liquor in an open container in an unauthorized location. He was later released from police custody once he had sobered up.
Impaired Driving:
On June 14, 2026 at 10:05 p.m., two Belleville police officers stopped at a business on Dundas Street West while on patrol. One officer entered the business while the second remained in the police cruiser.
While seated in the cruiser, the officer observed a vehicle drive over a parking curb before quickly leaving the area. Moments later, officers were approached by an individual who reported that the female driver of the vehicle had also consumed mushrooms.
Based on the information received and their observations, officers searched the area for the vehicle. A short time later, police located the vehicle at a nearby business and identified the female driver.
During the investigation, officers formed reasonable grounds to believe that the woman’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. She was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service for further testing and investigation.
As a result of the investigation, 29-year-old Camisha Quilty of Hamilton was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.
Quilty was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in July.
