Northumberland OPP officers have recovered multiple stolen vehicles, and charged a suspect.
On May 23rd, officers responded to a complaint regarding a stolen vehicle at a property on County Road 65 in Port Hope. Police located a stolen pickup truck, and the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit was engaged to assist with the investigation.
A search warrant was executed at the property on May 24th. As a result, numerous stolen vehicles were located within wooded areas on the property. Officers also recovered a fishing boat.
In total, police seized seven motor vehicles, a boat, and other items believed to be related to criminal activity. The estimated value of the recovered vehicles is approximately $900,000.
Police also arrested one suspect. Syed Shah, a 41 year old from Port Hope, has been charged with 8 counts of posession of property obtained by crime and 3 counts of Altering, destroying, or removing a vehicle identification number.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
