As part of Education Week, Hastings Prince Edward District School Board honoured several staff with Inspiring Excellence Awards at a special event on Thursday.
The Inspiring Excellence Awards started in 2023 and are the highest recognition at HPEDSB. They recognize employees who have made significant contributions to student achievement and well-being through their commitment to and leadership in education.
2026 Inspiring Excellence recipients were determined based on their contributions and how their actions aligned with at least one of the priorities of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan:
- Strengthening Foundational and Real-world Skills
- Advancing Indigenous Education and Reconciliation
- Fostering Critical Thinking, Adaptability and Innovation
- Promoting Citizenship, Well-being and Safe Environments

- Mike Love, Teacher, York River Public School
- Cindy Lupili, Teacher, Centennial Secondary School
- Jeff Mooney, Teacher, Trenton High School Elementary
- Hilary Pearson, Teacher, Trenton High School
- Paula Penson, Teacher, Trenton High School
- Matt Sager, Haudenosaunee Social Worker, Eastside Secondary School and HOPE
