Belleville Police Service is celebrating its 190th anniversary this year and is looking for the community’s help to bring history to life.
BPS, in collaboration with Glanmore National Historic Site, is organizing a public historical display at the museum and is issuing a call for artifact donations from the community.
Community members who may have police-related historical items are invited to consider donating them for inclusion in the exhibit and for long-term preservation in one of the city’s historical repositories where the public can continue to learn from and enjoy them.
The official anniversary date is June 18.
The police service plans to commemorate its 190th anniversary through a variety of other activities and initiatives throughout 2026 with more information to come.
Please note:
- All donated items become part of the public record and may be held by Glanmore National Historic Site’s Regional Collection or the Community Archives of Belleville and Hastings County.
- Once donated, items are no longer in the possession of the donor.
- Firearms or weapons will not be accepted.
Community members interested in donating an artifact are encouraged to contact Glanmore’s Exhibit Development Coordinator, Danielle McMahon-Jones, at dmcmahonjones@belleville.ca or 613-962-2329 ext. 3655 to arrange next steps.
