Belleville police responded to 235 calls for service from 5 a.m. on January 16, 2026 to 5 a.m. on January 19, 2026.
Impaired Driver
On January 18, 2026 at 7:13 p.m., Belleville police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the city’s east end. The vehicle was reported to be swerving across the roadway. Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
As a result of investigation, Nicholas Carter, a 38-year-old Trenton man, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.
He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in February.
Warrant
On January 18, 2026 at 4:07 a.m., Belleville police responded to a report of an unwanted person in the downtown area. Upon arrival, officers observed a male who was known to have an outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrant for breach of probation.
As a result, Kevin Symons, a 52-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.
Prohibited Driver
On January 16, 2026 at 7:32 p.m., Belleville police conducting proactive patrol in the city’s north end observed a vehicle operating without a front licence plate. Further investigation revealed the plate was not authorized for that vehicle.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the driver, learned he was operating the vehicle while suspended. Additional investigation determined the driver was also a prohibited driver, with several driving prohibitions for numerous offences.
As a result, Duy Nguyen, a 38-year-old Oshawa man, was arrested and charged with:
