Hastings County’s Community and Human Services Committee is recommending county council approve another extension to an almost finished affordable housing project in the hamlet of Deloro, between Madoc and Marmora.
County council had granted almost $1.2 million to Springale Development and All-Together Affordable Housing Corporation subject to the 15-unit building being ready to go at the end of December.
However, due to a shortage of cupboards and other cabinetry, the second and third floors aren’t quite ready for occupancy.
County Warden Bob Mullin supported an extension of the agreement.
“They’ve been very efficient and the delay has been beyond their control but everybody that’s involved has been very pleased and it’s nice to see that the extension will lead to a positive result.”
The recommendation calls for an extension until full occupancy is attained which is expected in the near future.
