Stirling-Rawdon Council filled its vacant seat with a familiar face.
After hearing from several potential replacements at Tuesday’s meeting, council appointed Grant Hagerman to the seat left vacant by Ward 1 Councillor Dean Graff’s resignation last year.
Hagerman previously served on Stirling-Rawdon Council from 2010 to 2018 as Ward 1 councillor and from 2018 to 2022 as deputy mayor.
During this time, he served on numerous township committees, including Transportation (chair), Finance, Protection of Persons and Property, Environmental, Library, Planning, and the Stirling-Rawdon Police Service Board. He also participated on the township’s negotiating team, as well as human resources hiring and dismissal panels.
Hagerman also represented the township on several regional and joint boards from 2010 to 2022, including the Quinte Waste Management Committee, Stirling-Rawdon Arena Board, Medical Board, Building Inspection Joint Board, Fire Inspection Joint Board, and the Centre Hastings Police Service Board.
Council felt that with his experience, Hagerman will not require extensive training and will be ready for the upcoming 2026 budget deliberations and other issues the township faces.
Mayor Bob Mullin thanked all applicants for their interest and encouraged those who applied to consider running in the next municipal election, scheduled for October 2026.
