The value of building activity in both Prince Edward County and Brighton was up at year’s end.
In Prince Edward last month, the county issued 33 permits worth $6.2 million in construction, up from 28 permits worth $2.3 million in December 2024.
For all of 2025, there were 706 permits worth $ 353.8 million.
That is an increase from 2024’s 565 permits with a construction value of $112.3 million.
Building activity in Brighton was slower in December with just five permits worth $1.1 million issued, down from 18 permits valued at $5.8 million for the same month in the previous year.
However, for the year, construction was valued at $148.1 million with 151 permits issued.
For 2024, the municipality issued 188 permits worth $63.9 million.
A big chunk of last year’s value came from a $76 million permit that was issued for the construction of a retirement residence on Georgina Street in March.
