Quinte West OPP say the number of impaired driving charges throughout the 2025 Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign was double that of 2024.
More than 20 impaired driving charges were laid during the campaign.
“Every instance of impaired driving is a risk we cannot accept. Quinte West OPP want to remind drivers to plan ahead for a safe ride,” police said in a release.
New regulations came into effect on Thursday, January 1, 2026, resulting in increased licence suspensions and other measures aimed at reducing impaired driving.
