It was a good December and a good overall year for building activity in the City of Belleville.
The Building Department issued 46 permits with a construction value of just over $18 million last month.
In December 2024 there were 31 permits issued worth $5.1 million in construction activity.
Three of last month’s permits were for new residential construction.
The highest valued permit was for $10 million for an addition and work at Proctor and Gamble.
For 2025, the city issued permits for $238.4 million worth of construction activity, up from $200.8 million the year before.
Construction began on 177 new residential units last year including detached, semi-detached, rowhouses, condos and apartments.
