One of Ontario’s largest female hockey events is coming to the Quinte region.
The Belleville Bearcats have announced that they will be hosting the 2026 Annual New Year Classic Hockey Tournament that will be held from January 2-4, 2026.
Eighty teams will be competing in the tournament this year, including teams from British Columbia, Maine and New York.
Games will be held at local arenas across the Quinte region.

The Belleville Bearcats are thrilled to announce that the 2026 Annual New Year Classic Hockey Tournament will be held from January 2-4 2026. Eighty (80) teams will come to the area for an exciting weekend of high-level on-ice action. This year’s tournament promises to be one of Ontario’s largest and most competitive female hockey events, attracting teams from across the province and beyond. This year we welcome the U18A Burnaby Wildcats from Burnaby, BC., the U15B Casco Bay Mariners from Falmouth, Maine and the U11A Amherst Lady Knights from New York.
The New Year’s Classic has become a staple in the region’s sporting calendar, known for showcasing some of the best female hockey talent in the country. This year, teams spanning various age divisions will compete in multiple arenas in the local area, with each game offering a thrilling display of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
“We are incredibly excited to host this event, which continues to grow in size and importance every year,” said Amanda O’Brien, tournament organizer for the Belleville Bearcats. “The New Year’s Classic is a unique opportunity for athletes to challenge themselves on the ice, and for fans to witness some of the best female hockey talent in the province.
