On October 9, 2025, a woman called police to report that her daughter was out of control and exhibiting combative behaviour towards her in the Belleville General Hospital parking lot.
Officers apprehended the teenager under the Mental Health Act.
During her apprehension, she resisted police and engaged in self-injurious behaviour by striking her head against her mother’s vehicle and subsequently against the ground while officers attempted to gain control and restrain her safely. The teenager was escorted into the hospital for medical evaluation.
Based on the SIU’s preliminary inquiries – which included a review of the teenager’s medical records that contained no indication of any serious injury, Deputy Director O’Brien was satisfied that the investigation should be discontinued. Given that the unit was without jurisdiction to investigate the incident, the file has been closed.
