Prince Edward County has denied the construction of a new subdivision along Fawcett Avenue.
A draft plan of subdivision was looked at during Wednesday’s planning and development committee meeting.
The draft plan includes 31 lots for single-detached homes, and 54 townhouse units, on a total area of 5.49 hectares.
Several local residents spoke at the meeting about the proposed development, and raised concerns about the development. Some of the concerns raised included excessive traffic, difficulty with snow clearance, and loss of trees.
Council members also had concerns with the plan, mirroring the concerns raised by public commenters while also noting that excessive traffic related to construction on Fawcett Avenue would be a nuisance for residents and could damage the road.
The plan was rejected by the committee after brief debate.
