It is never quiet, dull, or an easy year at Canadian Forces Base Trenton.
As we look back at the year that was, we spoke with the Commander at 8 Wing Colonel Andy Bowser.
He says modernization was front and centre in 2025.
” … and all that backbone infrastructure that has to take place in terms of its workings to onboard these new capabilities and new fleets that the wing’s going to get here in the coming years.”

Bowser says the main capital work was broken down into two main segments.
” … development of the new hangar complex to house the new CC330’s here … potentially have three aircraft. The second piece is extensive upgrades to the airfields. Everything to accommodate the larger aircraft here in Trenton.”
A taxi way that is about the length of the entire runway was paved earlier this month.
Surfacing of the main runway is anticipated to take place in the spring.

As part of the Prime Minister’s visit in August to 8 Wing earlier this year, where he announced pay raises and more military investment, Quinte News asked Mark Carney about CFB Trenton, the RCAF, and the CAF’s effort in rescue missions and evacuations.
Colonel Bowser said in closing, that despite the capital investment projects, the evacuation missions, and training, Trenton military members were also deployed around the world, serving the world for good.
He added that there were also extensive training missions with other countries around the world.
