The colour purple has taken on much more significance in the month of October. Children’s Aid Societies across the province reach out to their communities to make people more aware of the problem of child abuse.
Highland Shores CAS, in partnership with The Children’s Foundation, is well into its annual Dress Purple Campaign with various events planned.
Dress Purple Day is scheduled for Friday October 25.
The overarching goal of the campaign is to bring awareness to the help that is available to children and families under stress and to encourage people to report any incidents of actual or suspected child abuse.
If you have concerns about a child, please call 1-800-267-0570.
This year the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies is calling on the provincial government to step up and strengthen social infrastructure in all communities, saying children, youth, and families should have timely access to high-quality trauma-informed supports and services.
