Ontario Provincial Police laid over 2,200 charges in the east region of Ontario during Canada Road Safety Week.
Initial results included the following:
- Speeding – 1,522
- Stunt Driving – 41
- Impaired charges – 55
- Careless Driving – 19
- Distracted Driving – 22
- Seatbelt charges – 96
OPP say the remainder of charges fall under the Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence Act, Off Road Vehicles Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Canada Shipping Act.
In total, there were 2,278 charges laid.
The week encompasses May 14- May 20.
