With changes to Belleville Transit routes on the horizon, the City of Belleville is also reminding residents about its Mobility Bus which provides accessible public transportation.
The Mobility Bus is available to any resident in Ward 1 or Ward 2 who may face barriers to using the fixed-route transit system.
Riders with mobility challenges can schedule a trip, be picked up at their location, dropped off at their requested destination and schedule a return trip.
When determining eligibility, the city considers barriers that affect an individual’s ability to use the fixed route transit system including distance to an accessible bus stop, accessible paths of travel to and from bus stops, navigation and wayfinding of the fixed-route transit system, and more.
The Mobility Bus operates seven days a week (with the exception of statutory holidays) between the hours of 5 a.m. and midnight on weekdays, 5:30 a.m. and midnight on Saturdays, and 9 a.m. and midnight on Sundays.
Rides can be booked through the dispatch office by email or phone between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. daily.
Starting in June, the service will also be available through a new online booking portal.
Riders will be able to schedule a ride through their web browser or the app, and even track where their ride is in real time.
You can see more on the Mobility Bus service on Belleville Transit’s Mobility Bus webpage or contact Transit at 613-962-1925.
