Police have laid charges in connection with a fire at a Havelock apartment building that displaced several tenants.
Peterborough County OPP say no one was injured in the Tuesday evening fire at the multi-unit residence on George Street.
Investigation revealed that after an argument, an individual uttered threats to one person and exited the building.
Shortly after, the structure was engulfed in flames.
Around 7:30 p.m., officers received a call about a suspicious person and located the individual near the scene.
As a result, the 29-year-old Havelock male was arrested and charged with:
Arson – disregard for human life
Fail to comply with probation order – two counts
Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
Uttering threats – damage property
Police are not releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The Office of the Fire Marshal was contacted and will be attending to investigate.
