The sixth season of Belleville’s Pop-ups on the Bay is just around the corner.
On Monday, city council approved licence agreements with 13 vendors, including six new businesses to set up shop at West Zwick’s Park this summer.
The vendors were chosen from 24 applicants, an increase of seven applications over 2023.
The 12 pop-ups are fully subscribed.
There are still three of four spots available for seasonal food trucks with applications remaining open until April 29.
Three pop-ups will also be available to rotating vendors throughout the season.
Pop-ups on the Bay will operate weekends from May 15 to June 25 and Wednesday to Sunday from June 26 to September 15 as well as holiday Mondays.
Prior to approving the vendor agreements, Councillor Paul Carr asked if there would be any consideration to moving the closing time from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. during July and August as he has heard from many people who would appreciate the extra hour to visit.
The city’s Tourism Specialist Michelle Lochan says that is not the plan at this time, however, they will keep an eye on traffic patterns for future consideration.
In the 2024 Operating Budget revenues from Pop-up leases are projected at $38,000 and $30,000 in sponsorships to offset operating costs.
