Chair of citizens advocacy group OurTMH, Michael Cowan, spoke to Quinte West Council during their Wednesday meeting about the upcoming Doctors’ Day.
During his brief presentation, he spoke about the work local doctors have been doing for the community out of Trenton Memorial Hospital, and requested that the week of April 28 to May 4 be declared Trenton Memorial Hospital week in honour of all the work those doctors do for the community.
He also presented yard signs to council members for Doctors’ Day on May 1 to council members and municipal staff.
Mayor Jim Harrison thanked Cowan and the doctors at Trenton Memorial Hospital for their service to the community.
“I want to thank you too, because there’s only so much anyone can do. But when we get people together, we can do a lot,” said Mayor Harrison. “That’s exactly what you’ve demonstrated, how much you can do when you work together.”
Council accepted the presentation, but took no action at this time.
