A winter weather travel advisory in effect for today. Brief but intense snowfall could affect road conditions and visibilities.
Hazards: Locally heavy snowfall with total accumulations up to 5 cm. Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow. Timing: Late this morning and early this afternoon.
Discussion: A band of lake effect snow off Lake Huron will bring brief, but heavy snowfall later this morning and into this afternoon. This may impact portions of Highway 401 from Belleville and westward. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
