A woman is in critical condition after a house fire on Moira Street East.
The call came in around 1:30 Monday afternoon.
Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the home.
Initial reports indicated a person might be in the building and that extrication might be required.
Firefighters were able to locate the person, who they say was an unconscious female.
The female was badly burned and taken to hospital by Hastings Prince Edward Paramedics.
She is described to be in critical condition.
A second person in the house was able to escape under their own power.
The Office of the Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate the blaze.
Back in March 2022, Belleville City Council had considered making the property a heritage site.
