The following was submitted by the City of Belleville.
During last night’s meeting, Belleville City Council approved the 2023-2027 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (MAP).
The MAP is a provincially required document which outlines the City’s short and long-term goals to identify and remove barriers for those with disabilities and increase the accessibility of our city, over the next five years.
The ultimate goal of the document is to promote a culture shift in our community and to see the City of Belleville reach its full potential by having accessibility become a way of life and business.
The development of the document included a public engagement process earlier this fall. Feedback received was considered by staff in the finalization of the document. The approved document is now available to the public.
“The MAP is a great step forward for the future of accessibility in our community,” said Accessibility Advisory Committee Chair Councillor Barbara Enright-Miller. “On behalf of our committee, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to review the draft plan and provide their comments. This feedback has helped us ensure the document best reflects the needs and wishes of our city.”
