The Christmas season will be descending upon Belleville this weekend.
Starting Friday, November 17 there will be a special launch night kicking off the Festival of Lights.
Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. at Jane Forrester Park with live music from Shirley Diane, food vendors, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus and a drone light show (weather permitting).
The Festival of Lights will run from November 17 to January 7, 2024.
Also Friday the Salvation Army will kickoff its annual Christmas Kettle Campaign just before the Belleville Senators game against the Manitoba Moose. This season’s fundraising goal is $365,000. Last year the Kettle Campaign raised $360,000.
This year’s display will include new installations including a gingerbread man, penguin and an interactive snowman.
Later this weekend, on Sunday, will be the Belleville Santa Claus Parade.
The parade will start at 4:30 p.m. at the Belleville Fairgrounds in the west end and continue heading straight east onto Bridge Street.
It will wrap up at Bayview Mall in the east end.
