October’s building activity in Brighton saw a large increase over the past year.
The municipality’s Building Department issued 43 permits with a construction value of $16.87 million last month.
In October of 2022, 15 permits worth just under $4.7 million were issued.
Twenty-four of last month’s permits were for dwellings including six townhouses being built on Ambrosia Way and eight condos on Meadowcreek Drive.
Only five new dwellings began construction in the same month last year.
Construction value year-to-date is also up.
There have been 184 permits granted in Brighton so far this year, up just three over 2022, however, the construction value to this point is $84.7 million.
Building activity through the end of October last year was worth just $44.9 million.
