Residents in both Belleville Wards will now have access to the city’s user-pay bulky item collection program.
The program was previously only available to Ward 1 residents, however, after considering feedback from the public, the program has been expanded to include Ward 2.
Previously, Ward 2 residents wanting to dispose of large items could take them to the Thurlow landfill but had to transport them there themselves.
Feedback to the city indicated that many people did not have the means to transport these items on their own.
Items are collected on a weekly basis each Friday with the next collection scheduled for this Friday, Oct. 20. Requests for pick-up must be made by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday before collection and can be arranged online at: Belleville.ca/BulkyItems.
