Prince Edward County Council is calling for a better plan to bring healthcare to rural communities.
In a motion brought forward by Mayor Steve Ferguson during Tuesday’s council meeting, council was asked to support a letter by Hastings County calling for action from the provincial government to plan for and deliver better rural access to healthcare.
Councillor Kate MacNaughton said that changes need to happen on a provincial level in order to get healthcare to underserved areas.
“I think it is something that we should be looking to the province to take seriously,” said Councillor MacNaughton. “Congratulations to everyone who is working on trying to service that orphan population and recognize how they do it in a very hamstrung position.”
The motion passed without debate.
