Quinte West mock community emergency preparedness exercise:
Date: Wednesday, October 25, 2023
Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: County Farm Centre Ltd., 222 Hamilton Rd., Belleville.
The community is asked to avoid the area of 222 Hamilton Road, Belleville on Wednesday October 25. County Farm Centre Ltd. will be closed during the exercise.
During the exercise, there may be an increase in city and emergency vehicles, personnel, and road closures in the area. These activities are planned as part of the exercise to allow participants to practise and refine their skills in response to a mock emergency simulation.
This exercise is a requirement of the province’s Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, that ensures the city’s annual emergency management program can appropriately protect the lives and property of Quinte West citizens. Hosting and participating in this mock exercise is part of the city’s commitment to testing its emergency preparedness, and ensuring the readiness of the city’s emergency response plans.
Lessons learned from this exercise will help staff from all participating organizations train and work together to provide increasingly effective coordinated responses in Quinte West in the future, and provide hands-on learning opportunities for students in a variety of Loyalist College programs.
