Public Health nurses who’ve been on strike for the past six weeks will return to work today after a tentative agreement was reached over the weekend.
However, while the 50 striking nurses, members of the Ontario Nurses Association, have voted to accept a three-year contract, the board of directors for Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has not. The board is expected to vote on it Wednesday.
In a press release, Public Health says some of the programming cancelled during the strike will gradually resume as nurses get back to work but some of the programs will not, as about 70 public health workers represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees continue a strike that began recently.
