A new program at Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward will benefit seniors and senior pets.
Through the Seniors for Seniors Adoption program, all adoptable animals in HSHPE’s shelter, aged six and older, are available at no cost to qualified adopters, sixty and older.
Older animals in shelters often have difficulty finding new homes but they can be calmer than younger animals, which can also make them a great match for older individuals.
The program is sponsored by Bay View Home Hardware in Belleville.
The program replaces the shelter’s previous practice of offering select senior animals to senior adopters at reduced rates.
