The Province of Ontario has announced the appointment of Justice David Isbester to the Ontario Court of Justice.
Justice Isbester was serving as an Assistant Crown Attorney in Belleville after taking on that position in 2020. During his time in Belleville he served as the designated intimate partner violence prosecutor.
Justice Isbester was first called to the Ontario Bar in 2008, and served as an attorney in many roles. For 10 years between 2009 and 2019 he was a criminal defence lawyer who served clients in Belleville, Napanee, Kingston and Picton. In 2019, he joined the Cornwall crown attorney’s office before joining Belleville’s crown attorney office in 2020.
Hastings County Crown Attorney Lee Burgess said that Justice Isbester would be missed by the local crown attorneys.
“We here will all miss his calm demeanour, his compassion for people and his willingness to do any case and go the extra mile,” said Burgess. “It is a huge loss for our office.”
Justice Isbester will be serving as a justice in Thunder Bay.
