A formal inquest has been announced into the death of William Shea, who died in hospital after being shot by a Peterborough police officer.
Shea was involved in a confrontation with police on July 23, where he confronted police officers with a triple-barrel shotgun after a high speed chase.
An investigation by the Special Investigations Unit cleared the police officer of any wrongdoing from the shooting, but an inquest into Shea’s death is still mandatory under the coroner’s act.
The inquest is set to begin on September 5 and is expected to last five days.
