Belleville police responded to 80 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on July 20, 2023 to 5 a.m. on July 21, 2023.
Breaching release conditions
A call to a disturbance Thursday evening led to the arrest of a 52-year-old Flinton man. Belleville police were dispatched to a report of a heated argument between a man and woman in the area of Albion and Station streets shortly after 7 p.m. Officers arrived and located the pair on Station Street. An investigation revealed the man was on multiple release orders – one stemming from a domestic incident which resulted in conditions not to associate with the female at the scene. The man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and failing to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing today.
Altered licence plate
A sharp-eyed city police officer spotted an altered licence plate while on patrol, leading to charges against a 36-year-old Belleville man. The plate of a vehicle parked at a North Front Street business caught the attention of an offer on patrol around 2:30 a.m. Friday. There was something about the unusual combination of letters that didn’t sit right – and an investigation revealed the licence plate did not exist. Upon closer inspection, it was clear to the officer the plate had been altered. A 36-year-old Belleville man was charged with using an altered plate and provided a September 11 date in traffic court.
