Belleville police responded to 65 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on July 11, 2023 to 5 a.m on July 12, 2023.
Fraud
On July 10, 2023, the Belleville Police Service received a complaint from a local car dealership regarding a male attempting to purchase a vehicle with fraudulent identification. Employees became suspicious of the validity of the identification and contacted police. Police began an investigation into the driver’s licence and health card which were presented as proof of identification and determined that they were both fraudulent. On July 11 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the suspect and two other males attended the dealership to pick up the vehicle. Police attended and arrested the three parties. Two males, aged 19 and 20, were arrested and later released unconditionally. The third male, 19-year-old Deva Sharma of Cheltenham was arrested and charged with identity theft, personation with intent, three counts of using a forged document and fraud over $5000. He was later released with a court date in September 2023.
Warrants
On July 11, 2023, at 6:05 p.m., police attended a west end address regarding an unwanted female who was causing a disturbance. Police identified the female as Alicia Miller, 32 years old, of Belleville. Miller had an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to comply with a probation order. She was arrested and later released with a court date in September 2023.
