A recent rash of trades by the Wellington Dukes, followed by the resignation of coach and General Manager Derek Smith, has drawn the attention of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.
A number of those trades were with the rival Golden Hawks just weeks prior to Smith joining Trenton as coach and GM.
In a story in the Picton Gazette, OJHL commissioner Marty Savoy says, “The league is aware of the situation and is currently looking into the matter. Once that process is completed the league will be in a position to make a formal statement.”
According to the Gazette the Dukes have lodged a protest with the league and other OJHL teams are upset with the optics.
