Some Long Term Care homes in the Quinte region have been getting penalized because of some non-compliance issues.
A report to the Hastings County Long Term Care Committee on Wednesday indicates that repeat non-compliance with regulations resulted in penalties from $1,100 to $16,500.
Director of Long Term care Erin Chapman reported to the board.
“An example of this that we did hear about in a home in our region was that a bottle of expired hand sanitizer was noted during the inspection and there had been a previous finding related to that and the home was fined $5,500.”
Chapman added the homes are acutely aware of this and are doing their best to ensure this type of thing doesn’t occur.
She said this is particularly challenging when you have hundreds of bottles of sanitizers and dispensers being used.
